I am posting this message to report that I am not at all pleased with the way this facility has treated me. They ripped me off. This is what happened: Last August 26th, on a Wednesday, I booked a boat for the following Saturday afternoon, August 29th, 2015. They requested a deposit and I provided my VISA information. The following day, Thursday, August 27th, I called the marina to inform them that I had to immediately return to Vancouver. I left this information on the Skaha Lake Marina voice mail. No one from their facility called me back. I discovered that despite informing Skaha Lake Marina three days in advance of my rental for the following Saturday, they billed me for the rental! Later I was informed by a former neighbour from Pentiction, Cliff Goertz on Lakeside Road, that on the day that I had booked my boat, August 29th, there was severe smoke from a fire in Washington State and a storm from Vancouver that would have prevented me from safely renting and deploying my rented boat on Skaha Lake on that day. I wrote the marina a letter explaining the situation and requesting my deposit to be returned. To this date, December 18, 2015, no one from Skaha Lake Marina has returned my call or have they credited my VISA account. Frankly, this is very poor business practice. If this is the manner in which they operate, I would warn anyone who is considering this facility to be extremely cautious. In light that I had provided them with more than 72 hours notice to cancel my boat and that the conditions on that day were such that it would be too dangerous to go out on that lake, yet they still took my $150.00 deposit, is deplorable and pathetic.
